Jefferson County housing program gets $400,000

pGov. Andrew M. Cuomo Friday announced that Jefferson County will receive $400,000 in funding for housing rehabilitation./ppNorth County Affordability Inc. was awarded the funding that will be used for 15 owner-occupied houses through the countywide HOME program. It was not made clear whether the funding is already awarded on an annual basis. /ppIt is among $17 million in awards for nonprofits and municipalities to create affordable housing projects and ownership opportunities throughout the state./ppThe money will fund 51 projects across the state, which will help leverage an additional $23.9 million to help those living in underserved rural and urban parts of the state./pp“As we work to strengthen the upstate economy, New York state must support initiatives that grow affordable housing options and opportunities for home ownership, especially in rural and underserved areas,” Gov. Cuomo said in a release. “By making unprecedented investments through the Upstate Revitalization Initiative and working closely with nonprofit and faith-based partners, we are bringing government resources directly to localities so they can access the tools and information they need to revitalize their communities.” /p
