pCARTHAGE — With the mild winter, many have already started their springtime activities, including area farmers who are gearing up for the growing season and the start of the Carthage Farmers Market./ppOpening day this year for the weekly market, held Fridays at the Riverside Drive Farmers Market Pavilion, is May 27./ppThe Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce will host the annual preseason vendors meeting from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 25 in the back room of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7227, 668 West End Ave./pp“Anyone that has not sold their product at the market in the past is welcome to attend this vendor meeting. However, any new vendors will need to be approved by the Farmer’s Market Committee prior to setting up,” said Lori A. Borland, chamber executive director. “New vendor applications will be available at this meeting and also on the website.” /ppVendors must be residents of Jefferson, Lewis or St. Lawrence counties. The production area must be within the state or bordering states for produce in season. /ppVendors must produce at least half of the produce they have for sale. Crafts must be handmade by the actual vendor in the tri-county area. /ppThe vendor fees remain the same: inside the pavilion for the season $80; outside seasonal $55; weekly inside $15; and outside $10.
