pPOTSDAM — With the retirement of a full-time secretary, the village now has seven positions that have either gone unfilled or been eliminated in the past year./ppWith regret, trustees accepted the retirement of Cindy J. Vivlamore, an administrative assistant/account clerk in the code enforcement and planning and development offices, at a special meeting Jan. 12, according to Village Clerk/Treasurer Lori S. Queor./ppMs. Vivlamore, who has been with the village for 12 years, worked her last day on Friday, retiring due to medical issues. Her annual salary for 2015-16, set at a board meeting in May, was $38,886. /ppMs. Vivlamore had been on medical leave since April, according to Mrs. Queor, who said since that time, Code Enforcement Officer Gregory Thompson, Planning and Development Director Frederick J. Hanss and she have been sharing Ms. Vivlamore’s duties./ppMayor Reinhold J. Tischler said Thursday that the board has not taken any action to seek a new candidate to replace Ms. Vivlamore. /ppHe said all members of the board feel that the position should either remain open, or be filled by a part-timer who would work eight to 12 hours per week. /pp“If we decide we can do without that position, we will,” Mr. Tischler said./ppVillage Administrator Everett E. Basford said Friday that the fate of the position is “on hold,” but the board will revisit it in the spring once budget discussions get underway. Until then, the position will remain open./ppHe said it is one of three positions with the village that have gone unfilled in the past year, along with one in the police department and another at the wastewater treatment plant. An additional four positions have been eliminated, including one in recreation, and three with the village court, which was dissolved in December./ppAlthough Trustee Stephen J. Warr recently pushed to save the job of former Village Court Clerk Shelly Warner by putting her in Ms. Vivlamore’s job while she was on medical leave, there is no indication that such an idea is being considered. /ppMr. Hanss said neither Mrs. Warner, nor anyone else, has been hired to work in his office at present./p
