pCANTON — The former Norfolk man who had his April 2014 conviction for felonies related to the 2013 rape of a 15-year-old girl overturned by a state appellate court in November was resentenced to prison Monday in St. Lawrence Country Court./ppPatrick R. Wright, 33, currently an inmate at St. Lawrence County jail, was sentenced to 11 years in prison following a Feb. 23 jury trial where he was found guilty of third-degree rape, three counts of third-degree criminal sexual act, endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. /ppOn Feb. 2, 2013, Wright, formerly of 262 Marsh Road, had sex with the teenage girl when she was alone with him at his mother’s home in Waddington, the girl said during the trial. She testified that Wright gave her alcohol and marijuana before having oral sex and intercourse with her. /ppThe charges on which Wright was found guilty all related to the age of the victim. /ppDuring sentencing, District Attorney Mary E. Rain read a statement from the victim in which she said the years following the rape were “driving me insane.”/pp“‘When I do fall asleep, I see him and wake up screaming,’” Ms. Rain read from the statement. “‘I thought I’ve been through a lot in my life ... But this blows everything out of the water.’”/ppThis is the second time Wright had been found guilty on the charges./ppOn March 3, 2014, Wright was found guilty by a jury on all six charges and was sentenced to 11 years in prison and 10 years of post-release supervision by County Court Judge Jerome J. Richards on April 21. /ppWright had started serving his time at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility when the conviction was overturned on Nov. 25 by the state Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department, which cited numerous prejudicial remarks made by District Attorney Mary E. Rain during her closing arguments in Wright’s trial. /ppProsecutorial misconduct does not entitle Wright to a dismissal of the charges, only a new trial./ppIn addition to his prison sentencing, Wright was sentenced to nine years of post-release supervision and was ordered to pay $3,138.47 in restitution and $1,425 in court fines, fees and surcharges./p
