pCANTON — The Brier Hill man accused of being involved in the brutal beating of an Ogdensburg resident at a Ford Street bar and restaurant Halloween evening pleaded not guilty Monday in St. Lawrence County Court./ppSteven A. Horton Jr., 28, of 2666 State Highway 37, pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation. /ppIt is alleged Mr. Horton was one of two men who caused serious physical injury to Anthony L. Rybka, 38, Ogdensburg, in the early morning hours of Nov. 1 at DaVinci’s Spaghetti House bar, 1301 Ford St., Ogdensburg. /ppCourt documents reported Mr. Rybka’s injuries were included an orbital fracture and a nasal fracture which necessitated the surgical placement of mesh and screws. It is also alleged Mr. Horton applied pressure on Mr. Rybka’s throat and neck, causing him to lose consciousness./ppIn a felony complaint filed in City Court by Ogdensburg Police Detective David Layng, Mr. Horton is accused of putting Mr. Rybka in a choke hold from behind, and then not letting go until another person intervened./ppOgdensburg police have an active felony assault warrant for Michael J. Nugent, 30, last known address 1848 Jay St., Ogdensburg, who is accused of participating in the Halloween assault with Mr. Horton./ppMr. Rybka’s family has set up a Facebook page offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Nugent./p
