District voters Tuesday approved school budgets across Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
Here are the results by school district:
JEFFERSON COUNTYALEXANDRIA CENTRAL:The budget was approved 237-44. Funds for two new buses were also approved, 284-32, as well as the funding for the library, 219-64. The two vacant board seats were filled by Suzanne Hunters, with 246 votes, and Jane Aikins, with 216 votes.
BELLEVILLE HENDERSON CENTRAL:The budget passed 174-33. The increase in library funds was also approved 170-36. The two, five-year vacant seats on the school board were filled by Anthony Varney, with 168 votes, and Kyle Gerhke, with 135 votes.
CARTHAGE CENTRAL:The budget passed 464-94. The library funding was also approved, 466-93, as well as the capital project, 418-140. Sean McHale received 399 votes, Joseph Colangelo received 393 votes, Nata Parnes received 365 votes, Giovanny Sanchez received 289 votes and Craig Putnam received 174 votes. Mr. McHale and Ms. Parnes were elected for three-year terms, and Mr. Colangelo was elected to an unexpired term.
GENERAL BROWN CENTRAL:The budget passed 536-169. Voters also approved the purchase of four new buses, 584-101. Sandra Young Klindt received 397 votes, Tiffany Orcesi received 357, Mark Zehr received 281 votes, Marc Thomas received 182 votes and Brien Spooner received 70 votes. Ms. Young Klindt and Ms. Orcesi were elected to three-year terms on the school board.
INDIAN RIVER CENTRAL:The budget passed 382-26. The capital reserve fund was also approved, 366-31, as well as the capital project, 354-43, and the library resolution, 353-48. Kevin McCarthy ran unopposed, collecting 349 votes. Newcomer Michael Pierce ousted incumbent RaeAnne LaFace, 210-197.
LAFARGEVILLE CENTRAL:The budget passed 90-2. Incumbent Sheryl Wilson ran unopposed, receiving 92 votes.
LYME CENTRAL:The budget passed 223-41. Establishment of a repair reserve fund was also approved, 223-41, as well as the library proposition, 218-45. Jon LaFontaine received 235 votes, Deanna Lothrop received 220 votes, Lynn Reichert received 210 votes, Kathy Gardner received 149 votes and Scott Radley received 110 votes. Ms. Lothrop, Ms. Reichert and Ms. Gardner were elected for five-year terms. Mr. LaFontaine was elected to a one-year term.
SACKETS HARBOR CENTRAL:The budget passed 131-31. The bus proposition was also approved, 131-31, as well as the library funding, 111-51. Incumbent Dale Phillips ran unopposed, collecting 141 votes.
SOUTH JEFFERSON CENTRAL:The budget passed 221-41. The bus proposal was also approved, 227-35. Incumbent Erin Gardner ran unopposed, receiving 238 votes.
THOUSAND ISLANDS CENTRAL:The budget passed 338-55. The bus bond was also approved, 333-58, as well as the increase to library funds, 299-95. Bruce Mason received 315 votes, Jolene Radley received 302 votes, Jennifer Bach received 241 votes and Amanda Mason received 142 votes. Mr. Mason, Ms. Radley and Ms. Bach were elected for three-year terms.
WATERTOWN CITY:The budget passed 348-58. The capital reserve fund was also approved, 360-43. Suzanna Renzi-Falge received 322 votes, Jason Harrington received 272 votes and Calvin Stanley received 108 votes. Ms. Renzi-Falge was elected for a three-year term and Mr. Harrington was elected for an unexpired term.
LEWIS COUNTY SCHOOLSBEAVER RIVER CENTRAL:The budget passed 340-89. The purchase of three school buses was approved 365-65. The two, five-year vacant seats on the school board were filled by Jonathan Beller, ousting incumbent David Meyer 257-159, and incumbent Christine Lashbrooks was bested by Stacy Greaud, 264-163.
COPENHAGEN CENTRAL:The budget passed 125-16. The Head Start Transportation proposition also passed 136-8. Koreen Freeman and Keith Lee were voted in for five-year terms as new board members with 120 and 113 votes, respectively.
HARRISVILLE CENTRAL:The budget passed 105-28. The purchase of two school buses was approved 113-20, and a $5,000 increase was approved for the Harrisville Free Library, 85-48. Jan Mosher, Tennille Schmitt and Kathy Felio were re-elected to the board with 101, 108 and 117 votes, respectively.
LOWVILLE CENTRAL:The budget passed 283-30. The purchase of three school buses was passed 277-7, as was Head Start Transportation, 291-21. Voters also approved an additional $15,000 for district libraries, 272-40. James Farquhar and Stephanie Houser Fouse were re-elected to the board with 270 and 266 votes, respectively, and Amy Marti was voted in with 286 votes to fill the vacant position.
SOUTH LEWIS CENTRAL:The budget passed 189-53 and the purchase of three new buses also passed 193-47. Two new board members were voted in: Justin Szucs with 210 and Christine Chaufty with 203 votes.
ST. LAWRENCE COUNTYCANTON CENTRALThe budget passed 405-55. The purchase of five student transportation vehicles passed 401-55, and the authorization to levy an annual tax on behalf of the Canton Free Library passed 388-73. Keith Rosser received 369 votes, Eileen Raymond received 350 votes, Steven Sanderson received 338 votes and Andrew Moses received 335 votes for four school board seats.
CLIFTON-FINE CENTRALThe budget passed 174-50. Robert Lachut received 189 votes, Roger Benjamin received 167 votes and Nicole Curry received 113 votes for three school board seats.
COLTON-PIERREPONT CENTRALThe budget passed 184-35. The purchase of one school bus passed 206-11, and authorization to amend and expand the expenditure parameters of the capital reserve fund passed 187-30. Michael Dumas received 143 votes, Chad Vanbrocklin received 131 votes and Clinton Perrigo received 127 votes for three school board seats.
EDWARDS-KNOX CENTRALThe budget passed 130-20. The purchase of two school buses passed 142-8. Todd Wells received 134 votes and Stacia Kroniser received 107 votes for two school board seats.
GOUVERNEUR CENTRALThe budget passed 215-68. Authorization for a capital reserve fund passed 217-70. William Cartwright received 244 votes, Lisa McGregor received 220 votes, Sue D. Newvine received 120 votes and Ed Siebels received one write-in vote. Mr. Cartwright and Ms. McGregor were re-elected and Ms. Newvine was elected to the school board.
HAMMOND CENTRALThe budget passed 92-27. Donald Ceresoli Jr. and Douglas Delosh were re-elected and Charles Clemons Jr. was elected to the school board.
HARRISVILLE CENTRALThe budget passed 105-28. The purchase of two school buses passed 113-20, and the authorization to levy a tax on behalf of the Harrisville Free Library passed 85-48. Jan Mosher, Tennille Schmitt and Kathy Felio were re-elected to the school board.
HERMON-DEKALB CENTRALThe budget passed 133-5. The purchase of two school buses passed 134-4. Richard Hamilton received 124 votes and Ronald Smith received 123 votes for two school board seats.
HEUVELTON CENTRALThe budget passed 171-28. Authorization to establish a capital reserve fund passed 167-29. Karen Clary received 144 votes, Nick Montroy received 138 votes and Michael Davis received 114 votes. Ms. Clary and Mr. Montroy were elected to the school board.
LISBON CENTRALThe budget passed 375-181. A proposition for a main capital project received 285 yes and 255 no votes, but did not pass because a super majority was needed. A separate fitness project proposition was also defeated 362-185. Jennifer Gray received 369 votes, Becky Buckingham received 335 votes, Angela McLear received 299 votes, John McBath received 292 votes, Nicole LaPage received 291 votes, Nancy Addison received 230 votes and Larry Doyle received 218 votes. Ms. Buckingham and Ms. McLear were re-elected and Ms. Gray and Mr. McBath were elected to the school board.
MADRID-WADDINGTON CENTRALThe budget passed 141-16. The purchase of one bus, one mini-bus and one pickup truck passed 145-12, authorization for a capital outlay project passed 140-16, authorization to purchase a data server and scissor lift passed 138-19 and authorization to conduct a building condition survey passed 142-15. Bruce Durant received 133 votes, Tina Bush received 131 votes and Richard Hobkirk received 117 votes for three seats on the school board.
MASSENA CENTRALThe budget passed 348-48. Authorization to establish a capital reserve fund passed 350-45. Paul Haggett received 276 votes, Kevin Perretta received 225 votes, Jodele Hammock received 215 votes, and write-in candidates Dan Henry and Jason Taraska received one vote each. Mr. Haggett and Mr. Perretta were re-elected to the school board.
MORRISTOWN CENTRALThe budget passed 141-46. Authorization to collect an annual tax for the Morristown Public Library passed 144-44. Dr. Lawrence Kring III received 148 votes, Darrell Merkel received 119 votes and Joseph Belile received 65 write-in votes for three school board seats.
NORWOOD-NORFOLK CENTRALThe budget passed 190-35. The purchase of four student transportation vehicles was approved 189-36. Mary Ellen Todd received 189 votes, Suzanne Fiacco received 186 votes, Artie Frego received 23 write-in votes and Robert Barlow received 14 write-in votes. Ms. Todd and Ms. Fiacco were re-elected and Mr. Frego and Mr. Barlow were elected to the school board.
OGDENSBURG CENTRALThe budget passed 398-167. Authorization to collect an annual tax increase for the Ogdensburg Public Library was defeated 340-226. Michael C. Myers and Ronald N. Johnson were re-elected to two school board seats.
PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTONThe budget passed 254-85. The purchase of two school buses was approved 289-49, and authorization to establish a capital reserve fund passed 264-71. Joseph McGill received 187 votes, Michael Tremper received 120 votes, Janine Sullivan received 106 votes, Geri Lynn Wilson received 91 votes, Jennifer Hernandez received 57 votes and Kyle Tyo received 48 votes. Mr. McGill was re-elected and Mr. Tremper was elected to the school board.
POTSDAM CENTRALThe budget passed 462-83. The purchase of three buses and one passenger van was approved 461-83, and the establishment of a capital reserve fund was approved 480-60. Deborah Shipp received 305 votes, Ralph Fuller received 302 votes and Rachel Wallace received 290 votes for three school board seats.
ST. LAWRENCE CENTRALThe budget passed 152-7. The purchase of three school buses passed 150-8. Katherine Brown received 141 votes, Julie Carvel-Liberty received 133 votes and Teresa Rios-Passon received 131 votes and were elected to the school board.
