Patty Ritchie announces funding for school music, extracurricular activities

State Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, announced Monday that she secured $18,500 in funding for music and extracurricular school programs in Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Oswego counties.

“By connecting children with more opportunities to develop important skills through music, sports and other programs, we are providing them with the well-rounded education they need to achieve their goals in the future,” she said in a news release.

South Jefferson Central School District is receiving $5,000 in funding for intramural sports, like bowling, and several clubs.

Carthage Central School District, the Mexico Academy and Central School District and the Pulaski Central School District will all use the funding for music programs, and the Morristown Central School district will the funding for the Black Lake Fish and Game Program.

The Ogdensburg City School District’s John F. Kennedy Elementary School K-Kids Club will also receive $500.
