pWATERTOWN — The latest research on mastitis in dairy cows is among several topics to be featured at the Northern New York Agricultural Development Program’s annual meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Ramada Inn, 6300 Arsenal St. No registration is required for the meeting, which is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided./ppA handful of presentations will be made by experts about research projects funded by the farmer-led nonprofit. The nonprofit covers a six-county region in the north country and is funded by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets./ppThe presentation on mastitis will be led by Jessica Scillieri-Smith, a veterinarian for Cornell University Quality Milk Production Services in Canton. Her research has involved the testing of five dairy herds with mastitis caused by bacteria. /ppOther presentations will feature research on tile drainage, crop production and the possible launch of a food hub in the north country.
